2024
This piece was created upon the return of my first trip to Montego Bay Jamaica. In this piece I created the collaborative visual that represented the chosen colors of the Rastafarians. Rastafarians try to follow the Nazarite Vow of Separation, which forbids the cutting of hair, prohibits certain foods and requires shunning of the dead in order to emphasize life. Her wrap extends to collect her locs that reside under it. This piece is a reflection of my current connection to Jamaica.
Red: The shedding of the blood that sets people free.
