My name is Yahna( Yah- nay) I am a self taught multi discipline portrait artist from west Philadelphia. Throughout my years of building community with black people from all over the world, I have been exposed to other expressions of rich culture, history and self identity. Those experiences have nurtured my mindset which expanded away from the idea that black people globally were different. The largest similarity was the idea of self identity. My work examines and encourages true collaboration and unity of our communities. My work brings awareness of history and the present happenings in our communities. As a self-proclaimed tribute artist my work is a dedicated avenue to give back to my black culture and those connected to it. My life work is “A love letter to black culture.”
