Golden Nation

from $70.00

In many African societies gold was believed to represent spiritual enlightenment and transformation. For example, in ancient Ghana they celebrated the coronation of kings and their leaders with a show of gold wealth in the form of bracelets, necklaces, and rings, which all had symbolic meanings attached to them.

Over half a decade ago I purchased a handmade gold-plated pendant from a local vendor in Philadelphia at the Odunde Festival. I have worn my Africa pendant daily for over half of a decade. This has always been a modern and beautiful symbol of solidarity, respect and unapologetic bold pride.

As a tribute to the first nation, representing the highest status of enlightenment and wealth, I created this piece. This piece is a dedication reimagined.

My passion for art and advocacy let me to this piece.
